"HOW ABOUT CELEBRATING ST. PATRICK'S DAY ON WEDNESDAY, 17th MARCH?
No, you don't have to be Irish! The BCS, together with the InC, have got together to offer all their members & friends a very convivial way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Wednesday, 17th March. (Also celebrating, somewhat belatedly, St Andrew's Day on 30 November, St David's Day on I March, and, well in advance, St George's Day on 23 April.)
Thanks to Doug Stoneman at the new, improved Lord Jim Pub, the 1st floor lounge bar will be set aside for the exclusive use of those of us commemorating the events. All you need do is show up from 19.00hs at the pub on Rua Paul Redfern in Ipanema (one road from the canal separating it from Leblon). Just say you're from the BCS or the InC & there for the Private Function & you'll be shown upstairs. Awaiting you will be your first beer or caipirinha on the house, plus a complimentary portion of Irish Stew to all present between 19 & 21hs. Thanks Doug! Of course you’re welcome to eat & drink whatever else you fancy at your own expense. Doug tells us that additional stocks of Guinness, that quintessential Irish brew, & Jameson's, the other one, have already been received. Fancy something else typically Irish to imbibe – there’ll be Kilkenny, Baileys & Sheridans to tipple your fancy.
There's room for about 40-50 people seated & plenty more standing. Those of you who think they may not be standing at the end of the evening are invited to come early to get their seats!
No need to book, reserve or tell your society that you're coming. Just show up & enjoy. Happy St Patrick's to you all!"
